Benidorm is renowned for its beautiful sandy beaches and the reason most visitors come to holiday here . Levante, probably the most popular and well known is busy and  full of life with bars and restaurants lining the promenade thumping out music, but if you want a more sedate one then take a trip to either Poniente or La Cala. These are the ones favoured by both the locals and Spanish as they are quieter and more family orientated.

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

The eyesore that stood for many years on the crossroads of Avd. Mediteraneo and Avd. Europa is at long last being demolished. The derelict buildings had been boarded up for at least the last10 years and the Town Hall has been insistent that they are demolished as they were both a danger and unsightly. At one point they said if the landlord did not start then the authorities would take over and bill him for the costs.

Car hire "petrol policy"

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

You've booked the "cheap" flight for your well deserved break to Benidorm now for the hire car...... don't get caught out with the online quoted price! This is very rarely the final amount you pay, which you will discover upon collection at the airport. My main gripe is the petrol sting. You collect the car, with a tank full of petrol but the companies vary on how you return it back.

The Old Town is located between the Levante and Poniente beaches and a far cry from the "British Square" and what people associate when they hear the word "Benidorm". Its not all "2 for 1 Happy Hour" and "All Day Breakfast" - although if that's what you want there is plenty to be had.The Old Town is like a step back in time - full of narrow cobbled streets adorned with white-washed houses and an abundance of tapas bars, boutiques and restaurants.

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

With it coming up to the peak holiday season in Benidorm, you need to be aware of potential scams that you as holiday makers may be subjected to. Residents are all to aware of these and also fall victim but I thought it best to forewarned ! When hiring cars it is only too obvious that you are on holiday. It was once proposed that car hire companies remove their stickers from cars identifying them as so, but this has obviously not happened.

Most people need to go to a chemist at some point during their stay in Spain.  Spanish chemists differ to those in the UK, they are qualified similar to your local GP and  this saves time by not having to go and find a doctor if it is a minor ailment. However, if you do need to see a doctor make sure that you have your EHIC - the blue health card with you when you go to the Centro de Salud (Health Centre) which you will find in every town.
