In the Autumn, Saturday night viewing is a contest between BBC and ITV over rival shows Strictly Come Dancing and X-Factor - and the winner in ratings war is dependent on who you ask, with both claiming victory. One thing is for sure though, there is certainly a revival of interest in ballroom dancing and not only among the older blue rinse brigade. More and more youngsters are taking up different elements of dancing - and the tango, a passionate sensual style of ballroom is one of those.

Benidorm will be hosting a 3 day "Tango Convention" later this month - from Friday 25th until Sunday 27th April, based at the Hotel Nereo in the Rincon de Loix. It is the third year that the "International Encuentro de Tango" is taking place in the resort and tango enthusiasts from around the world descend here for the occasion. The event has been organised by professional tango instructor Marilú Fischer, who is officially a Tango Ambassador from Argentina - the birth place of the tango. The only place where you will currently find this type of dance here is at Benidorm Palace.
