Its full steam ahead at
Specsavers opticians in Benidorm following their hugely spec-tacular "Save your Glasses" day last Monday - 9th December. The leading High Street name has joined forces with the local Lions Club, and over a three month period they are endeavouring to collect 3000 frames for those in the Third World. They aim to recycle old spectacles to help some of the poorest people gain better sight.

Store Director Phillip Morgan was absolutely overwhelmed with the turnout and told me that in that one day alone they collected more than
70 pairs, bringing the national total to over 2,500 pairs! Other Specsavers branches across the Costa Blanca are also taking donations and you can pop any unused ones into the Calpe, Javea, Guadamar or Torrevieja stores. They are now only 500 frames short of their target and have until the 10th January 2014 to accomplish this goal.

Phillip would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate their 2nd anniversary party with them and in turn bought their old glasses with them to go towards the appeal. They were offering a 50% discount off all products over 75 euros and have decided to extend the offer until the end of December by way of thanks.
Just think, that old pair of glasses stuck at the back of the drawer and never used could help someone overseas live a better life - go on, make it your New Year resolution!
