Yesterday saw a great turnout for the third sponsored High Heel Hike for Help for Heros. Samantha Hurren, who is the founder and originally started this annual event flew over specially from the UK, as she relocated back there last year - however she has been integral in the organisation. The sun was shining and spirits were high ... literally by the end of the day!
Once again the imagination for some of the costumes was fascinating... quite where they get the ideas from is beyond me. The "serious" walkers started from Bar El Niu in Alfaz setting off just after 10.30am - in all about 30 and made there way to Camping Benidorm to the official start line which set of at 12 Noon.

Early starters from Alfaz

The local police sat upon their motorbikes smirking, probably never having seen such a sight and escorted the walkers along to the first pit-stop for refreshments. It was nice to see families with children also taking part in the event. Collection buckets were rattled to any passer bys and motorists who slowed down to look and by the end of the day those tins and buckets looked heavy! There was even a television crew there from "TVCostas" to record the events of the day.
