Mayor at opening of karting trackYesterday evening a brand new karting track opened in Benidorm – a mere 10 minute walk from the Levante beach! The Mayor Agustin Navarro officially inaugurated the latest leisure facility to come to the resort and thanked the two businessmen who bought it to fruition – Antonio Garay and Ramón Román. After his speech he then went down to the track, donned a safety jacket and helmet and jumped into a kart, where Antonio´s son joined him for a few laps.

10 minute walk from beach

entrance to karting trackThe track is located on the Avd de la Comunitat Valenciana, the old N332 – walk up the Avd Europa and at the big roundabout turn right and a little past the BP petrol station you will see “Karting Benidorm” opposite, next to all the Spanish discos - an easy walk for virtually anyone.

karting trackThe location and proximity to all the hotels in the heart of the Rincon is a sure winner – no need to get a taxi, so great for families with children in tow. The track is open 7 days a week – from 9:00am every morning and until 10:00pm Monday to Thursday but on Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 00:30am for all the night owls who like to stay up late!

Safety is paramount

karts lined upThere are 20 karts available, which can reach a maximum speed of 70km p/hr - but refreshingly, the main issue that they are really meticulous about is safety. You have the option of wearing an all in one jumpsuit but everyone has to wear a rib protector, which clips around you. You can then choose whether you want the foam neck brace before selecting a helmet and heading to a kart. Once sat down there are two sets of safety harnesses - arms go through one and clip around your chest and another around your waist and clips together. You then pull the ends to tighten and it keeps you snug to the back of the seat…. and you´re good to go!

Facilities for non racers too

childrens play areaThe track is over 400 metres long, with a number of sharp bends to test your skill. A session consists of 13 laps and costs 21€ or you can opt for 6 sessions costing 105€ - they also have a dual kart for 2 people at 22€ for 10 laps. They offer group packages with timed racing against each other, minimum of 10 people required – great for any stag and hens coming to Benidorm, in addition to special karts for children too. For the smaller ones that are too young to go karting there are activities available for them too, such as bungee trampolines, bouncy castles and soft climbing frames.

Themed food at bar

karting barThere is a bar and restaurant area serving drinks and food – all of which have racing themed names such as the Silverstone hotdog, Monza hamburger, Daytona salad or a Ferrari sandwich! For budding racing drivers there is a training school with an experienced racing driver plus complete multi media classroom facilities - enquire about the classes they offer.
