entranceBenidorm’s annual ‘Medieval Market’ located along Dove Park at the beginning of the Poniente beach in the Old Town is open and will remain so until Sunday night – May 13. Throughout the 3 days there will be processions, demonstrations and entertainment, plus many of the stallholders are dressed in period costumes to add to the authenticity.

marble cutterYou can even watch craftsmen at work, carving wood, chipping stone, baking bread and cutting leather. The stalls have a varied selection of handcrafted goods such as soaps, jewelry, leather goods, clothing, toys and trinkets in addition to many food stalls with hams, cheese, bread, herbs & spices and dried fruits and nuts.

sweetsFor those that are hungry, there is also a bbq with a delicious selection of ribs, sausages and sucking pigs rotating on a spit, all served with big hunks of bread and pickles as well as a gigantic paella on the go – which was enticing a lot of people.

cushionsThe market is open until Sunday evening and certainly worth a visit to see something different, which you probably wouldn’t experience back home… but closes between 2-5pm for lunch. It’s a lovely way to spend an evening, browsing around and afterwards, enjoying a drink.
