queenThankfully the predicted downpours didn’t materialize this afternoon and the highlight of Pride Week – the colourful parade, went ahead. Even Her Majesty made an appearance as well as plenty of other queens! There was an abundance of rainbow flags, colourful and sometimes barely there outfits as well as lots of cheeky feathers.

coco2Colin “Miss Coco” Brown certainly made an entrance, donning feathers and plenty of sequins, stealing the show upon Celeso, a beautiful and very well behaved white stallion. There were plenty of spectators, both locals and holidaymakers lining the route, heading along the Levante promenade then turning onto the main Avd Mediterraneo and finishing at the town hall square.

double deckerOfficial figures stated that just over 300 participated in the parade this year – it certainly wasn’t as many as in previous years and there was a marked absence of floats. Businesses here need to get behind this annual event and invest some money to continue attracting people.

pink feathersOver the course of the week the nightly events, both up at the Mirador - at the top of the old town and the Julio Iglesias auditorium - behind the town hall, have had terrific turnouts with a fabulous line up of entertainment and a great atmosphere, with positive feedback from all those that attended.
