IMG 7424Over the last few days, there has been much scaremongering in the UK press (mainly the tabloids)  that Brits visiting Spain “must prove that they can spend at least €100 per day for the duration of their stay as well as a return flight and proof of accommodation”.

The Spanish Ministry del Interior said “Foreigners from third countries – which means those from UK, must prove if required to do so by the officials in charge of controlling the entry of people into Spanish territory, that they have economic resources for entering the country, through cash, travellers cheques, payment letters or credit cards, which must be proven to have sufficient funds available on them”.

IMG 9689The truth is, technically you “can/may” be asked to prove certain things, such as a return tickets, where you are staying and if you can support yourself BUT this is no different to you, as a third country national going to any other Schengen zone/EU country.

IMG 9686This magical €100 per day does not mean you have to spend that amount and apparently, France has an even higher target! Even the UK has a set amount for non-EU nationals coming into the country so no, Spain is NOT victimising Brits as the alarmist tabloids love to portray. 99% of those arriving at Alicante airport for their holiday to Benidorm will sail through passport control and be on their way on the AP7 motorway into the resort to enjoy all it has to offer.

IMG 9685The beaches are full, sun is out, the bars and clubs are back to capacity and the beer is most definitely flowing. Do not be put off booking by reading these alarming sensational headlines – you´ll have, as always, a fabulous time here and want to come back, in the words of Cyndi Lauper “ Time after Time”.

IMG 6066Do not forget, that from May 2023 you will need a visa waiver which costs €7 but once approved it lasts for three years. This is done online, at least 72 hours prior to departure and you will need a valid passport. Hope to see you back soon, enjoying all that Benidorm has to offer.

Very True! All adds extra stress and worry on top of all the usual worries...we arrived on Tuesday and it was probably easier then it's ever been

I flew into Alicante 2 weeks ago for a weekend in Benidorm straight through no worries and a week after flew into Girona also straight through both Spanish airports absolutely fine. To be fair Manchester and Birmingham were also fine all scaremongering from the media
