Although some parts of Spain experience snowfall we are blessed here on the Costa Blanca to live in a microclimate, protected from the harsh weather most of the time. This certainly makes Benidorm a great choice for winter sunshine, especially with such a short flight time from the UK.
With the promise of 3,000 hours of sunshine plus price comparisons, showing alcohol and eating out far cheaper, it is no surprise so many flock here. Last weekend the sun certainly had its hat on and the next 10 days are also showing temperatures ranging between 17 and 21 in stark contrast to the UK.
There were people on Levante beach - a group of beach yoga ladies having a stretch and even, dare I say it, the odd brave one in the sea! With the resort hosting Beni Fest – the competition to pick Spain´s entry for Eurovision it was even busier.
Over 2023, Hosbec the hotelier’s association published that Benidorm recorded 10.8 million overnight stays throughout the year, with many of those coming for ´long weekends´. This is evidently applicable to the British sector, where the resort remains a firm favourite for party groups celebrating memorable birthdays and numerous stag and hen parties.
Financially, they make a huge contribution to the hospitality sector – hotels, taxi transfers, restaurants but mostly, the bars, who welcome them in with open arms. Although some are closed for refurbishments or staff holidays, you certainly won´t have a problem finding somewhere open.
