  • ... and not just 1 BAFTA but an astonishing 3 (to date) and he's here in Benidorm directing the last 2 episodes in the current series of the ITV hit comedy "Benidorm". Wow, what an honour for me to be able to sit and relax with him after he'd finished a busy days filming - with his trademark moustache which he has had since the age of 19 and only ever shaved off once for a part!

  • It has been officially confirmed that Benidorm series 9 will begin shooting in mid-March and have an extra two episodes – great news for all here. Pere Agullo, of “Filming Spain” – the production company used by Tiger Aspect in Benidorm has also indicated that they have provisionally been signed for series ten even though the current series 8 hasn’t yet been fully aired on UK screens.

  • The day had finally arrived... today was the occasion that I´d been working to since May - "Presentation Day". The Mayor gave a private audience at the Town Hall prior to the official ceremony in the Rincon, with the unveiling of the plaque. We were greeted by Agustin Navarro and his Deputy Gema Amor, who is also Councillor for Tourism in his private office on the second floor.ç

  • Determined to help local charity “Emaus”, Derren Litten – writer and creator of the Benidorm series has set about organizing a fundraising evening. It will be held on Friday 29th May at 8pm in the UK Cabaret Club – opening specially for the occasion, which is underneath the Presidente Hotel. This promises to be a fun karaoke night with many cast members taking part. Topping the bill will be Jake Canuso, Tony Maudsley, Sherrie Hewson, Tim Healy and Johnny Vegas – even Derren has promised to take to the stage himself! Also due to make as appearance are Paul Bazely, Josh Bolt, Steve Edge, Elsie Kelly and Danny Walters – so a night not to be missed if you are a fan of the series.

  • With this weeks live broadcast of Britain's Got Talent semi finals, it reminded me of the very funny Sports Relief BGT which the cast members of our much loved Benidorm series did earlier this year. And on that note, according to "The British Comedy Guide",Tiger Aspects the production company responsible for Benidorm have confirmed that they are indeed working on a 6th series of the ITV sitcom.

  • When it comes to virtual year round sunshine, value for money and great free entertainment, Benidorm is hard to beat. It come as no surprise to therefore hear that Benidorm is the number one hot spot amongst Brits looking for the perfect family getaway. Online gaming giants, Gala Bingo ran a holiday survey, which showed that 57% of Brits had a love affair with Benidorm and given the opportunity, 23% said that they would move over to live here and 20% were influenced to come after watching the ITV Benidorm series.

  • The crowds on the pavement outside the Sol Pelicanos were already vying for a space this morning as the camera crew were just setting up. With the number of National Police present you could have easily mistaken it for a royal visit and in some ways it was - Hollywood Royalty, as Joan Collins was on set for her much anticipated appearance in Benidorm 6.

  • Yesterday the Benidorm cast karaoke fundraiser took place at The Comedy Club - organised by Derren Litten, the series creator and writer.

    As soon as it was announced, there was a clamber for tickets, which following last years masive queues they decided to pre-sell at the Presidente Hotel... with a limited number on sale at the door. It was a night not to miss for fans of the series - and they turned out in droves.

  • It has been confirmed that ITV are to make a 5th series of the hugely popular "Sun, Sangria & Sex" award winning sitcom. This will be great news for all fans of "Benidorm" and especially as veteran actress Joan Collins has let it be known that she would love a cameo role following in the footsteps of Cilla Black, Sue Pollard and Denise Welsh amongst many - it has become somewhat of a cult to appear in the show ......

  • With only two weeks left until filming starts THE most important prop in the series is about to make its way onto set - Madge´s mobility scooter! I bet that Derren had no idea of the virtual hysteria he´d cause when he decided that Madge would more or less be permanently seated on her scooter - not due to any disability mind except idleness.

  • Following the success of the award winning ITV series "Benidorm", the town has become a mecca for those retired Brits in their sunset years heading for Benidorm to let down their blue-rinsed hair in the hundreds of thousands. Endevouring to follow in the footsteps of their on-screen idol Madge, the streets of Benidorm have been turned into a motorway of pensioners on mobility scooters!

  • Benidorm is hot property when it comes to television – and film crews are nothing new here. Ever since 2006, when the first episode of the hit ITV comedy Benidorm was shot, others have followed in their footsteps. Next Tuesday - 5th January sees a brand new 8 part documentary made by Blakewey North, an award winning TV company based in Manchester who also made BenidormER, so have lots of experience in the resort. It will hit our screens on Channel 5 and is called “Bargain Loving Brits in the Sun”.

  • The long awaited crackdown on mobility scooters in Benidorm appears to have begun – a relief to many. The by-law – banning under 55´s unless mobility impaired, was passed 31st March 2014 by the previous administration, but never appeared to be implemented – to the frustration of genuine users and pedestrians. How many times have we all seen obvious very abled youngsters whizzing up and down the Levante promenade on these vehicles, riding at speed. Last weekend 27 fines were issued, sparked after a street cleaner was hit by one and taken to hospital – thankfully only suffering from bruises – plus a number were impounded. Since July 15, a total of 47 scooter fines have been issued according to the authorities.

  • Last night the much awaited and eagerly anticipated 6th series of the ITV hit comedy series Benidorm returned to our screens - and it certainly didn´t disappoint. All the old favourites have returned in addition to a new family, the Dykes, who have already made quite an impression!It must be one of the few times we have seen Madge walking and without her scooter - but fear not, it arrived by the end of the episode.

  • RIP Kenny Ireland - it was announced today that the actor, who played Donald in the Benidorm series, lost his very long battle with cancer at the age of 68. He was written out of the 7th series in June,during filming to concentrate on his treatment. He will be sadly missed by all.....  below is an interview I did with him back in 2011 while filming series 4.

  • Local Police in Benidorm in conjunction with the town hall, have embarked on a clampdown over the rental and use of mobility scooters and electric scooters in the town... long overdue according to many! Benidorm was one of the first places in Spain to regulate the hire of mobility scooters following complaints from road users and pedestrians.

  • The long awaited Benidorm karaoke fundraiser took place at the Comedy Club last night – and what a night it was. The queue spiralled all the way down to Calle Gerona at 6:30pm even though the evening wasn’t due to kick off until after 8pm! For Benidorm series fans it was a unique one off opportunity to meet and rub shoulders with many of the cast members.
