  • Having your passport stolen while away can ruin your entire holiday. As well as the inconvenience of obtaining an emergency travel document from the Consulate in Alicante, which is only valid for that one journey, there is the cost involved – 131€ which is approx 95 pounds sterling dependent on the exchange rate. This is very possibly the actual cost of your return flight as well as a putting a big dent in your spending money while here! Then on your return back to the UK you have to re-apply for a brand new passport, a further 72.50 GBP... so keeps your safe.

  • The British Consul, Sarah-Jane Morris and consular staff met with a number of Councillors responsible for Foreign Residents from the province yesterday. In total 12 towns with a high percentage of British ex-pats attended to discuss how the consulate could offer greater support and assistance – emphasizing what they can and cannot do. They brainstormed ideas and how to encourage further integration into the communities in which they live, with volunteering a very positive and beneficial way.

  • The British Consulate in Alicante is moving.... but not far - the new office will only be 10 minutes´walk from the current building. From Tuesday 14th May you will find the Consulate on the Rambla Mendez Nuñez, just near the port of Alicante, a short walk from the Tram stop and Alicante Central bus station.

  • Yesterday evening the British Vice Consul, Lloyd Millen and his team came to Benidorm to give an informative talk on the services offered by the Consulate - which took place at Benidorm Town Hall.The presentation was well attended with over 100 British ex-pats and was opened by Mr Millen, who gave an informative talk on the role of the Consulate.

  • As part of an ongoing initiative, the Alicante Consulate team, headed by Vice Consul Lloyd Millen chaired a focus group meeting with British ex-pats in the town of Alfaz del Pi yesterday. The aim is to visit the Top 10 towns with the highest British expatriate communities within the district covered by the Alicante British Consulate – but as Lloyd amusingly mentioned, it is in fact the Top 11 as boundary changes during assessment would have knocked out one which had already been visited!

  • One of the most asked questions at the newly relocated SATE office in the Rincon – opposite the Flash Hotel is from lost or disorientated holidaymakers, after a long hard night of partying asking “Where is my hotel”? Often the only clue is that the hotel is tall and has a swimming pool – not really much help considering that probably describes virtually every hotel in the resort!

  • I had the pleasure of meeting new British Consul for Alicante, Sarah-Jane Morris this morning, who has now officially taken office – assuming responsibility from Paul Rodwell who has gone onto pastures new in the Balearics. However, unlike Paul she will be based at the British Embassy in Madrid and will visit Alicante at least a couple of times a month – leaving the day to day running in the capable hands of Vice Consul Lloyd Milen and his team.
