  • Fed up with the negative image being portrayed of the resort, councilors have voted in favour of requesting an amendment of the law on anti social behaviour to the Provincial Government in Valencia. Currently, the Local Police can in theory issue fines, although in reality it is doubtful whether any are actually ever issued. Those that are, are in the main ignored and left unpaid once the offender has returned back home. They appear to be requesting an order that would enable the Spanish authorities the power to chase up unpaid fines in the UK.

  • Did these two chaps, dressed as bobbies at last years British Fancy Dress Day have an inkling of things to come - well read on! The police exchange program witnessed in Magaluf and San Antonio this summer could well be extended to Benidorm next year. Seeing a British bobby patrolling on Calle Gerona and around the English Square, where a high concentration of British holidaymakers head could become a reality according to Juan Carlos Moragues.

  • What was once deemed a family friendly resort is now being tarnished because of a minority that behave recklessly. Rowdy and unruly stag and hen groups have been the subject of numerous newspaper headlines but now many resorts across Spain have decided enough is enough. Magaluf – considered the most raucous called time first, declaring hefty fines on those that exhibited anti-social behavior This was followed by many others including Seville, Marbella, Mojacar, Ibiza and now Benidorm! Following complaints from local residents, opposition councilors have been putting pressure on the town hall to take action. So what is the town halls response on this? Put up posters and banners in the ‘problem’ areas with the tagline “Enjoy & Respect”...

  • Following continued complaints from locals and especially the BBBA - Benidorm's British Businesses Association about unsuitable adult items visibly on sale in numerous Asian shops, police have begun to crack down. Almost 500 such items were confiscated from five shops located between Calle Gerona and Avenida Europa primarily aimed at British stag and hen groups. The haul included 380 Neon t-shirts with messages such as ‘Fuck Loud’, ‘Suck my Cock’ and ‘Lick My Pussy’, lighters with pictures of naked women, blow up body parts and other small items.

  • Benidorm is a popular destination for party go-ers and we are now entering traditional Stag & Hen season. Love them or loathe them, they are important to the economy of the resort and in general the vast majority behave. The resort is a magnet for those wanting a good time, where booze is cheap and bars are plentiful - many of the groups arrive on Friday and fly back on Monday, though somewhat more subdued than when they arrived! Boisterous behavior is tolerated to a point here but on the plane it is a very different matter as a group found out last week.

  • Karting Finestratis one of the most popular attractions for those who come here for weekend celebrations - especially stag & hens or party groups. Located on the mountain side behind the La Marina shopping centre it is certainly the place to head for thrill seekers and adrenalin junkies. The 1 km track has plenty of hairpin bends to test your skill behind the wheel, with everyone becoming an imaginary Lewis Hamilton as they hit the asphalt.

  • Much was made in the British press of a group of 18 hens – in their 30’s and 40’s heading to Magaluf this week, who were removed from a Jet2 flight for wearing what the airline deemed “Offensive T-Shirts” with the phrase ‘Bitches on Tour”. The Bride-to-be claims no-one spoke to her and was visibly upset by the entire episode – probably more embarrassed that the entire nation, including her employers were reading about it. Jet2 replied that ‘as a family friendly airline we will not allow people on board if they are using or displaying offensive language’. Should the same also apply to towns, cities and holiday destinations? Anyone that has been to Benidorm cannot fail to be shocked and appalled at some of the sights we see walking about the streets.

  • In a bid to smarten up, the Taxi Driver Association in the Valencian Community have proposed that all their drivers should confirm to a set standard regarding appearance, which has been accepted by Benidorm town hall. Perhaps it would be a good idea if the authorities would also take a look at what is deemed acceptable around the resort when it comes to attire worn by visitors, especially from some of the stag groups which we see here!

  • Benidorm attracts millions of Brits for their annual holiday every year, but there is also a high percentage that come just for long weekends. The resort is a magnet for stag and hen parties – as was particularly evident this weekend! It is a tradition among many to dress up – some in fancy dress whilst others have tshirts printed. Tiara clad bride-to-be’s clutching giant blow up ‘shapes’, latex covered stags with a ball and chain, cartoon superhero characters. All these are actually pretty standard and you will see them walking up and down the Rincon area or along the beach front and no-one will batter an eyelid.

  • Well its that time of the year when wedding planners are all in a flutter in the lead up to the  carefully planned Summer wedding. Brides magazine quote a lady calling the office wanting advice on "the most stylist hen-do possible" Her budget? "About £1000 a head for ten close friends" !!!!! It is even reported in todays tabloids that Mark Tindall, fiance of Zara Phillips has racked up a £12,000 bar bill on his alcohol drenched stag do!
