new metal rampThe new Mayor, Toni Perez is certainly going all out to bring about promised improvements to the resort.

Workmen and diggers have moved in along the Levante promenade and the access ramps along the entire length are being replaced with solid metal and concrete structures.

ramp twitThe vibrant Levante beach is the most popular with visiting Brits, attracted by the miles of golden sand and safe play areas for children. The lively bars that line the front attract thousands, who soak up the atmosphere while enjoying an enviable view. The beaches are the jewel of the resort and all are immaculately maintained throughout the year, with lifeguards, first aid stations and disabled facilities available.

old wooden rampThe current wooden ramps - there are twenty in total, are tired and in some places broken, posing a danger to users and so a budget just short of €775,000 was allocated for improvement works. Half of it will be paid for by the Council and the other half be the Regional Government. With the number of people that use them it is hardly surprising really!

lights along levante beachThe project also included replacing the 1,400 bulbs along the entire length of the promenade with low energy LED ones. During the reccession the Council turned on only every third bulb to save costs, but now with the new LED technology it will be cheaper to run and brighter, as they will all be back on!
