Fast food chain Burger King, which has three outlets in Benidorm will soon become two. The outlet located on Avd Jaime 1 in the Old Town, just beside the Hotel Corona del Mar which overlooks the Poniente beach is being evicted by the Council. Their ten year license, granted in 2001 expired four years ago yet they have carried on trading since.

The plot, which belongs to the council is now being recovered following a vote at the last council session – although no indication was given of time scale or what will replace it. It is always packed, especially whenever there are any parades starting at Elche Park.

A new McDonalds with drive-thru opened earlier this year a little further up, opposite Hospital Clinica Benidorm. Im sure that they do a very good trade, in particular with any Brits staying there, knowing what hospital food is rumoured to be like... smart business move!

However, with a typical 3 course Menu del Dia, including half a bottle of wine costing around €8 - the equivalent of 6 GBP it amazes me that people choose this calorie laden food which is high in fat, salt and carbohydrates instead... you can always opt for one of the many all day fry ups here for just a few euros instead if you want familiar food and far cheaper!
