The crowds turned out yesterday to support a fantastic musical fundraising event - to help raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research. It is the second year that such event has been held - purposefully taking place on International Multiple Sclerosis Day.
The organisers were 3 local business owners from within the Indoor Market: Howard Stirrup of "Just Denise Curtains", Vikki Caton of "Hepburns Hair, Nail, Beauty Salon & Barbers" and Elaine of "Sheila´s Money Exchange". The Mayor, Agustin Navarro arrived at the start of the day to show his support - and made a generous donation.
Last year the afternoon was unfortunately stopped following a "misunderstanding" between the police, but the Mayor personally called the police when he arrived to ensure that there would be no such repeat!

The event took place at the main entrance to the indoor market - on the busy corner, so not hard to miss.
Many local businesses has generously donated a variety of items for the raffle and tombola stand - which was manned by Vikki for much of the afternoon.
Plenty of Music

Crowds enjoying the entertainment |
There was live music all day - with many of Benidorm´s favourite entertainers giving their time for free. They are certainly always very generous with their time for such charity fundraising events. Ricky Dale compared the entire day and also sang himself. Mark Ellis, otherwise known as Ruby Rocks from Showboat really got the audience going - in fact, I don´t think many realised who it was as he was not in his glitzy gown!
It was a superb afternoon and special thanks must go to the awesome threesome for their tireless work in making it happen and of course all the performers, without who there wouldn´t have been an event - but most of all the generous public! The day raised a fantastic 1375€ - well done to everyone involved... every little helps.
