Fancy Dress Day last November
Benidorm is a town that never sleeps - and no time is more evident then at fiesta time! But some Benidorm bars always seem to be buzzing and full of life, especially in the Rincon de Loix.
One particularly busy place is the crossroads on Calle Gerona, at the Marina Hotel where there is a bar on each corner. You will find people sat at the tables literally from breakfast till closing time. During fiesta´s the police actually close the road due to the volume of people!

Regular  site outside Tiki Beach
One bar, Tiki City certainly seems to have found the formula! It is the sister bar of Tiki Beach and been open for a year and a half. If you ever happen to walk down the Levante beach front you cannot fail to miss Tiki Beach - it is probably the only bar constantly full, with customers spilling out onto the road!

Rado was the manager at Tiki Beach and when the new bar opened, he was moved across to manage that. I wanted to know why those two bars are constantly mobbed yet others are virtually empty - not being much of a drinker myself it was something I couldn´t figure out... surely beer tastes the same wherever you drink it?

Manager Rado
He told me it´s all about the environment and service and at Tiki they are like one big family. Customers come back time after time if they served by friendly attentive staff - something that they have perfected... and obviously serving quality drinks. Much has often been said about some bars serving sub quality beverages and trying to pass them off as the real branded thing - something which Rado shuns.

Tiki City is open 7 days a week, from 11am until 5.30am - for the hard core revellers. They have a real mixed clientele, with many Spanish as well as British customers. There is a relaxed chill out zone, with comfy sofas outside on the terrace or the more vibrant inside area. Thursday through to Sunday they have live entertainment in the late afternoon and at the weekend they broadcast live sporting events on the big screens.

It is also a very popular stop for Stag and Hen groups - which they openly welcome and Rado said for any groups to make sure they see him for a round of free shots - but they have to be dressed up! You can have coffee in the morning, tea in the afternoon and hard stuff at night.

As we head into fiesta time - it´s the busy St Patrick´s weekend coming up, the bar staff were busy putting up bunting and decorating the bar area in emerald green to capture the spirit of the occasion. On Monday, which is St Patrick´s day they have a line up live acts throughout the day - and one very special drink - GREEN BEER served by suitably clad bar staff! Now that´s something I´ll have to go and see....

The streets of Benidorm will turn into a sea of green as thousands descend on the town. The event has now turned into a weekend long event, with many Brits flying in specially. Bunting and shamrocks will be flying and many of the party goers dress up too.
Have fun and enjoy the craic!
