The main entrance
In addition to the twice weekly outdoor market, held every Wednesday and Sunday in the Rincon de Loix, don´t forget that there is also an Indoor Market - open 6 days a week.
You will find it at the beginning of the Avd Mediterraneo - and it is served by 3 separate entrances, all of which are wheelchair/mobility scooter friendly as they have ramps.

It has recently been revamped, with the entrances all freshly painted and attractive advertising boards lining the passage into the market itself, which is open until 6pm on weekdays and 3pm on a Saturday.

Bustling aisle
You will find a huge variety of independent shops and stalls down every aisle - meaning you are unlikely to walk out empty handed. You will find things which you didn´t even know you wanted or needed!

The majority of the shops are British owned, but even those that aren´t, all the staff speak English as the majority of the customers are Brits. It is not only popular with holiday makers but ex-pat residents also frequent it too.

Sherrie with owner Vikki
Now I don´t think I´ll be telling tales out of school here, but many of the Benidorm series cast members come here, particularly the ladies for their beauty treatments, which are done at "Hepburns" - ideally located just a few metres away from the Sol Pelicanos hotel where they film.

Sherrie Hewson, who plays the Solana boss Joyce Temple-Savage has both her hair and nails done here and I have seen Sheila Reid - Madge for those that can´t place the name, having her colour done. I must say though that I found it rather shocking that as she sat there with foils in her hair passer bys were stopping and taking photos! Have some respect - how would you like it if some total stranger came up to you and took your picture. When they are filming and "at work" that is acceptable but when they are trying to relax please respect their privacy.

Family run "Sheila´s" money exchange
For those that are bringing sterling over from the UK the most popular exchange place in Benidorm has to be "Sheila´s" - look at any travel forum and they are always the first recommendation when people ask where to change your euros.
Remember to take your passport with you the first time - this is a legal requirement and they will give you a ticket for subsequent visits so you don´t have to keep taking your passport out with you.

Locals also shop here for their fresh fruit, vegetables and meat - delivered daily. Those that are staying in self catering apartments and are going to be cooking pop in - you can´t get better recommendations than the locals using them!

Two of the shop owners, Howard of "Just Denise Curtains" and Tony of "Tonys Money Exchange" are key members of the "British Benidorm Association" - which is constantly campaigning to improve security for visiting tourists and residents alike. They have regular meetings with the Mayor and local police, to review the ongoing improvements to the area.

English cards, party wear and gift wrap
Hot tasty pies
Quality made to measure curtains
Superb quality fresh meat
There are plenty of snack bars where you can enjoy a drink or bite to eat, "Browse A While" - an English bookshop at the back which offer a book ex-change service, saving you having to bring half a dozen books with you, "Andy´s Phone Shop" for your mobile top up, dongles and sim cards and "Super Drogeria", which sell a vast selection of UK High Street branded toiletries.
Great for when the weather outside is not so good - saves getting wet in the rain, although looking at the sky today there´s not a cloud to be seen.... and in the hot summer months it´s all air conditioned so you can pop in to keep cool!
