If you fancy a change from Benidorm's busy Levante or Poniente beaches why not try Albir beach ... just a stones throw away - even the No 10 bus goes there from Benidorm.

Albir beach is wedged between Benidorm and Altea and the beach is ap. 600 metres long... from here you can see as far as Calpe - the "Penon de Ifach" or Rock of Calpe - a reference to the Rock of Gibralter can be clearly seen.

There is a free carpark right on the beach front if you are driving.  Its a much quieter and peaceful beach - albeit pebblely, but then if you're not a sandy beach person this will be ideal. They have the customary sunbeds and parasols for hire and you can even hire a themed pedalo with slide for only 14€ per hour - which is great fun. On the other side of the road from the beach - and its a quiet road, you will find many bars and restaurants where you can go and have a bite to eat.

There are lifeguards on patrol and there is a permanent first aid post incase of any accidents. Also, along the beach you will find facilities to rinse your feet with fresh water before you step onto the boulevard. And for the junior visitors to the beach, there are 2 children’s playgrounds where the little ones can have some safe fun. The playgrounds are unattended so parent will have to arrange that for themselves.

If you come on a Sunday then you can walk up to the very popular market, which is off the main road ... just follow the crowds and you will find it. There is the usual clothing and nic-nack stalls but also a good offering of fresh fruit and veg stalls and even a chicken man - no not real live ones but delicious spit roast ones!

Not far from there is the Woodbridge Oval cricket ground - it has a real grass pitch and looks like a typical village green, except for the mountains in the backdrop! Great little club house too.... and opposite the grounds you will find "Fandango" a "proper" British pub which once inside you could be forgiven for thinking you were in a Gentlemans Club.... all wood panelling and carpets.
