THE 7th annual moonlight walk from Guadalest, a picturesque village up in the mountains to Altea is taking place on Saturday 19th July. The event has been jointly organized by Marco Polo Expediciones – on the Avd Europa in Benidorm and the Nordic Walking Club of the Valencian Community, and has become something of a ritual for many that take part.
Transport to Guadalest
There are two routes, one of 15km and another slightly longer one at 21km, both of which will follow the route of the riverbed down from the mountains and take approximately 4-5 hours, setting off at 9pm. The meeting point is the sports centre in Altea at 7pm – from where coaches will transport everyone up to Guadalest. Guadalest has to be one of the most photographed villages on the Costa Blanca and is a very popular tourist attraction, which is served by a daily bus service from the centre of Benidorm.
Places are limited to 300 for safety reasons and you will need to register in order to take part – either at www.nordicwalkingcv.com or email This email address is being protected from spambots. The cost to take part is 15 euros, for which you will receive a goodie bag and t-shirt, drinks and snacks along the route and transport from Altea up to Guadalest – but you need to be quick as it is very popular!
