If you are at a loose end this Sunday then don´t despair as Benidorm will see a triple fundraising effort held at 3 different venues: El Cisne, Levi´s Showboat and Benidorm Palace – all in the name of charity! Lets hope that the predicted rain stays away for the weekend at least to ensure a great turnout.

El Cisne kicks off the fundraising day

Benidorm Mayor at last years Charities Fair in El CisneThe first event of the day is the International Charities Fair at El Cisne – the fourth such event organized by Pamela Dawson Tasker of the AECC and Steve Ashley of Samaritans in Spain, which is on from 10am until 2pm. Benidorm Mayor Agustin Navarro and British Consul Paul Rodwell will officially inaugurate the event at 12 Noon and then meet all the stall holders. The aim of the day is to raise awareness of the various charities and voluntary organisations on the Costa Blanca. Volunteers will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions and at the same time fundraise for their cause. There will be live music throughout the day, compared by Vince Tracey and a traditional English tea room run by the U3A. The event will in the adjoining car park next to the main entrance to El Cisne.

Levi´s Showboat - popular Benidorm venue

Packed Showboat for last years charity fundraiserAfter that head up to Levi´s Showboat in the Rincon de Loix for an afternoon of wall to wall entertainment to raise funds for "The Children of Emaus" – and in particular the home in Relleu. Like last year the event is a joint venture between Wayne - Miss Levi and Tad, who runs the Yorkshire Pride group of pubs.

Tad and Wayne - event organisersThere will be some fantastic Benidorm entertainers such as Simon and Lesley who make up Meatloaf, Take That, Adele, Girls Aloud, Stand & Deliver, comedian Gary George, Miss Stella Artois and of course, Levi´s Dreamgirls... who are all giving up their Sunday afternoon to entertain in the name of charity. The afternoon will run from 2pm until 6pm and there is a nominal 3€ entry – which will go towards the fundraiser.

Benidorm Palace - magnificent nightspot

Last years H4H line upThen IF you still have some energy left, Benidorm Palace are hosting a fundraising Variety Show – with proceeds going to "Help for Heroes". Tickets cost 25€ and available at the box office - doors open at 7pm and show starts at 8pm. Last years event was a great success and featured the likes of Chico, Ray Quinn and comedian Mick Miller.

Compare Stevie Spit all feathered upThis year the line up includes Chris Maloney – 2012 X-Factor contestant, 80´s pop group Tight Fit – who´s hits included The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Fantasy Island, Comedian Johnnie Casson as well as some of Benidorms favourites such as Jessie Brooks, One Vision, Angie Lang to name a few. The evening will be compared once again by Stevie Spit, ensuring that there will never be a dull moment!

In between, on Saturday and Monday there is the annual Moors and Christians parade in Altea - starting at 8pm.... and they say move to Spain for a slower pace of life!
