Benidorm Town Hall are planning on including a “noise map” on its website! Readings would be obtained and transmitted wirelessly through street metres and sound limiters - which are compulsory within certain types of venues. Neighbourhood Councillor Paca Fuster is very positive with this initiative, saying it will allow citizens to consult noise trouble spots and monitor how many times levels have been exceeded.
Noise has been an ongoing issue in Benidorm – with neighbours calling the police out, especially throughout the summer months. It is not just the Rincon area where you would expect noise to be an issue – the Old Town also experiences similar problems. Both the police and neighbourhood groups are onboard with the proposal and have said it will help prospective buyers to evaluate an area before purchasing.
Call me sceptical, but isn´t that pretty obvious? Most would walk around an area at different times of the day – it is apparent that if an area has lots of bars, restaurants and clubs then it will be noisy. For those neighbours trying to sell in what may be considered a “noisy zone” surely this will bite them in the bum and discourage any potential buyers. Personally I think that they should have a map of known areas where the peamen operate!
