The latest attraction at Aqua Natura – “Aqua Snake” was officially opened at the water park today. There was much excitement from bystanders as officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the 150 metre water slide and the first down were three lifeguards from the park.
The zig zag structure is 20 metres tall and you go down in a triple inflatable ring – one essential point here is that the 3 should ideally be equal in proportions otherwise it tends to tip you out coming around the last bend. There was certainly a queue waiting to try it out and everyone seems suitably impressed.
The park opened yesterday for the season – one week ahead of Aqualandia, a smart move in the current hot weather and as well as many water slides and plumes they have a sea lion show twice daily at 1:30 and 4:00pm. After the show you can also have a sea lion experience and actually get in the water with them – but this needs to be pre-booked.
There were many families, particularly with younger children – under 12´s, for which the park is ideally suited. A newly opened VIP area – were you have your own private fenced area with sunbeds, tables and chairs next to the lagoon looked like a great new addition to the 40,000 square metre park. At 5pm each afternoon they also have a foam party near the changing area.
Lifeguards are positioned at the top and bottom of all the slides to ensure safety and that the previous thrill seeker has cleared the drop zone before signalling for the next person to go. There is also a first aid station incase of any injuries. You can take your own picnics or use one of the restaurants or self service food outlets doted around.
It certainly makes for a great family day out and is ideal for children as it is smaller than the other water park - Aqualandia. Having said that there were many young adults without kids there too. Entrance tickets for either Aqua Natura or Terra Natura next door are €29 for adults and €23.50 for children between 4 & 12 years old – but a combined 2 days ticket for both is only a few euros extra - €35 and €28 so definitely worth it.
