The last-ever Benidorm Bangers charity rally roared into Benidorm last Saturday, marking the end of an epic 3,500-mile journey that began in the UK. After a ferry crossing and a dramatic drive over the Pyrenees into Spain, 117 cars arrived to a warm welcome in the heart of the Costa Blanca.
Organised by Rob Scott, this iconic rally has raised vital funds year after year, supporting the Yorkshire Air Ambulance in addition to hundreds of other local charities.
This final edition was no different, as each team also brought along donations for Busy Bees, a group that supports local children’s homes in the Benidorm area. Since the first rally back in 2015, excluding this year, just under £100,000 had been raised for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance – an astounding achievement thanks to Rob!
The celebrations kicked off with a well-earned fancydress party at Jokers on Saturday night, followed by a relaxed BBQ and prize presentation ceremony on Sunday. Spirits were high as participants celebrated the end of an era - many teams had been taking part year after year.
Adding to the fundraising efforts, a bucket collection during the festivities raised an additional €601.09 for Save My Life, a Benidorm-based animal charity that rescues and rehomes abandoned dogs as well as supporting other smaller animal charities.
Congratulations to all the teams, supporters, and organisers who made this final rally such a memorable one. The legacy of Benidorm Bangers will live on through the countless lives it has touched.
