The Benidorm Elvis Fiesta has kicked off - the 4th such event to take place in the resort. The 3 day event sees Elvis fans flock not only from the UK but also from across Europe. The Melia Hotel is the base for the event - and where yesterday I got to meet the participating ETA´s... Elvis Tribute Artistes, all in character and at various stages of his life.

"Elvis Mania" hit Benidorm at the weekend, where a three-day tribute to "The King of Rock n´ Roll" took place. As in previous years, hundreds of Elvis fans flocked here for the “Benidorm Elvis Fiesta”, many travelling specially from the UK – and who could blame them with the spectacular sunny weekend we just had, but many Spanish fans were also present too!

The organisers of the 3 day "Elvis Extravaganza" Peter and Harriet were delighted with the turnout and enthusiasm of the fans which attended - even the hotel guests staying at the Melia Hotel had an unexpected surprise! Literally everywhere you turned you would bump into an Elvis look alike - some good and some.... but all with the uniform quiff, sideburns, loud "I need my sunglasses" clothing and passion.

If you happen to be walking along the Levante beach yesterday lunchtime you would have been intrigued by the huge crowd assembled out the Tiki Beach bar... well either the crowd or the sight of the Viva Television crew ready with cameras! You could barely walk past on the road let alone the promenade - and the reason for all the excitement.... Elvis was in town! Simon Patrick, probably the best Elvis impersonator in Benidorm....

If you want to be "All Shook Up" then Benidorm is the place to be this coming weekend. From Friday 30th until Sunday 1st there is a 3 day "Elvis Fest" bought here by the organisers of Porthcawl - THE largest Elvis festival in Europe. Now in its 9th year there it attracts over 30,000 fans every September.

For the ninth successive year, the 3 Day Elvis Fest has descended upon Benidorm attracting hundreds of fans to the resort, many who have taken great effort to dress up for the occasion. The Melia Hotel is the epicentre, where a great poolside show featuring many of the Elvis Tribute Artistes (ETA’s) took place this afternoon. Hotel guests had a fantastic afternoon, listening to some incredible live entertainment – a real bonus for them. The weather has been a little bit of a mixed bag, with a breeze mixed together with outbreaks of sun but thankfully the rain kept away. There are also shows featuring world class ETA’s taking place at two other venues - The Rock & Roll House and Showboat however, these are for ticket holders only.

The fifth Elvis Fest took place in Benidorm this weekend and was once again a great success. The sun shone putting everyone in the mood for some singing and jiving – even Derren Litten, Benidorm series writer and a known Elvis fan was in the audience at the Melia hotel, together with Tony Maudsley and Tim Healy.

The three Day Elvis Fest kicked off in Benidorm today and hundreds of fans have flocked from across the globe to enjoy the extravaganza, dedicated to their idol. This is the sixth successive year that the event has taken place, growing bigger and better with each year. For the first time local artist Tachi left the crowds speechless with a live demonstration, painting a 2 metre tall face of The King of Rock & Roll to tremendous applause.
