Benidorm caters for all genre of music tastes – if you can´t find anything to please you, then something is seriously wrong! But there is one gentleman who is unique within his category – reggae – and the King of Reggae was Bob Marley. You will be totally blown away by ET, who performs his Bob Marley tribute at Jokers seven nights a week at 12 midnight – plus occasionally at Tropical, Sinatra´s and Chaplins.
Originally from the East Midlands, ET – yes that is his real name, lives here from around Easter until November, then goes back to the UK where he performs with a Drifters Tribute group as well as in various session groups and bands. He has always had a passion for music, even from an early age, performing in the school orchestra – in addition to being the lead drummer in the Scout Marching Band! Even now ET still plays drums and you may be surprised to hear, the flute too!
He is a true performer and adamant that it is how you interact with your audience as to whether it will be a success– he never fails to get the crowds going when on stage. He has been doing his Marley show for just over two years but is also part of the Temptations line up here. He gets in from “work” around 4am and unwinds before hitting the pillow when most of us are just getting up for the day. He is a great cook and enjoys using his creative skills in the kitchen, whether it’s preparing some jerk chicken with rice and peas or throwing something on the bbq. He is looking forward to the long summer evenings, not least of all when he can chill out with friends and entertain.
Fame has not eluded ET and he has been on the television a number of times. Around four years ago he was on the BBC´s Bargain Hunt with David Dickinson by pure chance. ET plays in a steel band and David wanted a Caribbean theme for a show in the Midlands, so the band was invited on to play in the background. However, the boys were such a scream that David decided he wanted to use them as contestants and split them onto two teams – ET was in the red team, which unfortunately lost.
Prior to that he was on Michael Barrymore’s “My Kind of People” – an amateur singing competition, which was broadcast on ITV from various shopping centres across the UK. ET performed in Birmingham and won the first and second heat, getting as far as the final where he sang his own R&B material. He loves writing his own material and may even start to include the odd number in his show – so when it gets into the charts you´ll know where you heard it first!
