Mobilty scooter safety in Benidorm.

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Following an article in the British Press about the menace of mobilty scooters I decided to look into the matter. A pensioner in the UK was seriously injured when a mobilty scooter crashed into her - leaving her with a broken hip and badly fractured thigh bone. She is now calling for a change in the law to force drivers to take out insurance. This was actually raised back in 2004 by a LibDem MP who stated that "motorised wheelchairs need to be governed by more regulations.

It has been confirmed that ITV are to make a 5th series of the hugely popular "Sun, Sangria & Sex" award winning sitcom. Trouble at Ryanair ... again!

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive

Ryaniar are once again on the warpath - this time with the Spanish airport authority, AENA. AENA are insisting that the airline must comply with new rules that state passengers’ rights to carry their duty free purchases  in addition to their handluggage. Many a time flying out of Alicante I have witnessed passengers trying to stuff their duty free into their 1 piece of small luggage.

Air-side at the new Alicante airport - gateway to Benidorm!

Well it's big - the new duty free shop at Alicante airport ! The check-in desks are easy to locate and then you go through security - which is on the far left hand side. One thing to say is that there are many more x-ray machines and scanners which are far more sensitive; the sunglasses perched on my head set the alarm off! Once you get through the security area you have to go through the "Duty Free" shop to get to the departure gates. Now, be warned .... duty free indeed!

Following years of building and afew million euro's (629 to be precise) the new state of the art Alicante Airport terminal has finally opened.  You pass the old terminal 1 building and drive straight on - keeping to the right if you want departures / drop off zone. Unlike the old drop off zone this new terminal has numerous parking bays - but again it is only a drop off zone so don't leave your car for too long unattended.

The local police tried to push the crowds back away from the display telling spectators they will get hot and wet but to no availe.

Today as announced a chapter of  bikers all on Harley Davidsons roared into the parking lot outside the sports centre. They made their presence felt with the reving of the motors. It was all fun.
