It come as no surprise to therefore hear that Benidorm is the number one hot spot amongst Brits looking for the perfect family getaway. Online gaming giants, Gala Bingo ran a holiday survey, which showed that 57% of Brits had a love affair with Benidorm and given the opportunity, 23% said that they would move over to live here and 20% were influenced to come after watching the ITV Benidorm series.

The Eucalyptus Park in Albir was a hive of activity as the annual Harley Davidson Fun Day took place there today. Around 600 leather clad bikers gathered with their gleaming machines, coming not only from the Costa Blanca area but also from Madrid and one biker, Nicolai, came all the way from Kiev in Ukraine!

Friday night was a memorable occasion for the Climent family - owners of not only Benidorm´s top entertainment venue, but also Europe´s. Proud parents Christine and Vicente watched as son David, illusionist at Benidorm Palace made history by becoming one of the youngest ever recipients of the prestigious Merlin Award, akin to the Oscars in the film industry. Tony Hassini – Chairman and CEO of The International Magicians Society flew over from New York especially for the event, which was presented to David after the premier of the new show “Q”.

If you are a driver in Benidorm you may have noticed the brand new high tech pay and display machines being installed around town. 77 meters are being installed – currently there are only 44 and work is scheduled to be completed by 1st July… but then remember this is Spain. When you park in a blue bay you have to pay - white bays, IF you can find one, are free.

The long awaited Benidorm karaoke fundraiser took place at the Comedy Club last night – and what a night it was. The queue spiralled all the way down to Calle Gerona at 6:30pm even though the evening wasn’t due to kick off until after 8pm! For Benidorm series fans it was a unique one off opportunity to meet and rub shoulders with many of the cast members.
There are numerous entertainment acts to go and see each evening, but one Benidorm favourite has thankfully been resurrected – “Sister Act – Are you ready for a miracle”. Originally started back in 2009, Charlene Devlin was in the original line up and is now joined by Joanne Crowle and Sian Payne to make up the all singing all dancing trio.

Local elections took place here yesterday and what a disaster for Benidorm - of the 44,375 eligible to vote just over 25,000 actually bothered, a mere 57%. Spain should really look into making voting compulsory like in Australia – where you are fined if you do not vote.

Determined to help local charity “Emaus”, Derren Litten – writer and creator of the Benidorm series has set about organizing a fundraising evening. It will be held on Friday 29th May at 8pm in the UK Cabaret Club – opening specially for the occasion, which is underneath the Presidente Hotel. This promises to be a fun karaoke night with many cast members taking part. Topping the bill will be Jake Canuso, Tony Maudsley, Sherrie Hewson, Tim Healy and Johnny Vegas – even Derren has promised to take to the stage himself! Also due to make as appearance are Paul Bazely, Josh Bolt, Steve Edge, Elsie Kelly and Danny Walters – so a night not to be missed if you are a fan of the series.

The latest attraction at Aqua Natura – “Aqua Snake” was officially opened at the water park today. There was much excitement from bystanders as officials cut the ribbon to inaugurate the 150 metre water slide and the first down were three lifeguards from the park.
